Greensprings Sanctuary · near Ashland, Oregon

What we measured, and why it is rare.

Most quiet-looking country places have never been measured. This one has — with a meter, on the pillow, and the readings are published below.

Why this matters

An electromagnetic field (EMF) is the invisible energy given off by anything electrical or wireless — power lines, Wi-Fi routers, cell towers, the phone in your pocket. It matters most where you spend the most time, since exposure builds with time spent near a source, and for most people that is the bedroom, not the street. Every reading on this page was taken with a meter, so you can check it rather than take our word for it.

Why act now?

In 2024 we hit 40 billion wireless devices and growing. These two maps show the increase in electromagnetic pollution over the last two decades including 5G, satellites, cell phone antennas, smart meters, and smart appliances.

Today's children are the first generation growing up inside the second map — their parents grew up inside the first.

How rare is this?

200,000× lower

Radio Frequency (RF) on the pillow in the Sanctuary Cabin than in a common rural bedroom — and that bedroom is closer to the rule than the exception. The worst pillow we have ever measured was in a five-star hotel room — >31,800,000× the RF of this cabin, maxing out the meter.

Sanctuary Cabin <0.1
Sanctuary Loft 6
Rural home 20,000
Downtown street 10,000–500,000
Five-star hotel >3,180,000

Bars use a compressed logarithmic scale so seven orders of magnitude fit in one row; the figures beside each bar are the exact RF readings, in µW/m².

All EMFs clear

All four measures in the Sanctuary Cabin sit in SBM-2024’s No Concern band. Every non-remediated place we surveyed is Severe or worse.

738× lower

Body voltage on the pillow than that same hotel room — 8 mV against 5,900 mV. This is the reading most closely tied to how you sleep.

Both accommodations are surveyed to Building Biology standards 4x per year, and you are given the most recent report during your stay. Every reading is shown against the published SBM-2024 evaluation guidelines for sleeping areas, and against what we measure in the field.

SBM-2024 “No Concern” thresholds

Radio Frequency (RF) < 0.1 µW/m²
Magnetic field < 0.2 mG (20 nT)
Electric field < 0.3 V/m
Body voltage < 10 mV
Dirty electricity no SBM band

Distance Alone Won’t Protect You.

Every non-remediated place we have measured — rural, suburban and urban bedrooms, city streets, 5-star hotel rooms, schools — came back Severe or worse for radio frequency and body voltage. Greensprings Longevity wasn’t simply found in nature. It was remediated to Building Biology standards, and re-measured every three months.

Readings fluctuate with conditions and are not guaranteed. We re-measure every 3 months, and the EMF Training & Remediation Kit lets you verify every number here yourself on the meters.

How many antennas are around you?

Count the registered cell-tower antennas within 3 miles of the door: 1 at the Sanctuary Cabin and Loft. 2,241 at the Seattle office. 12,108 at the New York office. Same radius, same public register.

Bars use a compressed logarithmic scale so four orders of magnitude fit in one row; the figure beside each bar is the exact count.

Counts are of registered antennas, from AntennaSearch. Unregistered installations are not included, so every figure here is a floor rather than a total.

Measuring your own home

Measure EMF Exposure

Learn how to measure EMF exposure using various detection equipment, including:

  • Electrical field meter: measuring voltage and current
  • Magnetic field meter: measuring magnetic field strength
  • Radiofrequency (RF) meter: measuring RF radiation
  • Dirty electricity meter: measuring electrical noise
  • Body voltage meter: measuring voltage changes induced in your body from EMFs

EMF Testing

Learn to measure and protect yourself from various types of EMFs.

What we do about it

The protocol at the Sanctuary has three parts. Two are included in every stay — the remediated place itself, and a short meter demonstration — and the third, full hands-on training with a take-home kit, is a paid add-on.

Detox Included in every stay

The Sanctuary sits in a secluded area with minimal EMF exposure, remediated using Building Biology Institute protocols. Your stay includes an optional detox protocol with biomarker tracking that shows how your body is responding.

Education Included in every stay

Learn about EMFs, their effects on the body, and how to test for them. Ben Pellow, our EMF Specialist, walks you through a short meter demonstration on your own readings, free with every stay. Full hands-on training with the detection equipment is available as a paid add-on, below.

Remediation Add-on, not included

Add the EMF Training & Remediation Kit to any stay and take home two professional meters, shielded phone bags and shielding fabric — over $1,400 of equipment. Full hands-on training in how to use it is included with the kit, so you can create a safer, healthier environment wherever you live.

Come and sleep in one

The Sanctuary Cabin and the Sanctuary Loft are both remediated, and both bookable.
